Council provides ride-on lawnmower to residents of Athlone estate

Westmeath County Council has provided a new ride-on lawnmower for residents of Brawny, in Athlone, to help them maintain the green area alongside their homes.

The provision of the lawnmower was welcomed by local Fine Gael councillor John Dolan.

"I helped re-form a new residents' group in the Brawny estate last year, after a number of years with no group," said Cllr Dolan.

"Following this group being formed, I secured a commitment from the council to supply a new ride-on lawnmower for the residents to maintain the large grass area in the estate.

"I am delighted to say that a new mower landed a week ago, with the funding provided by the council.

"This is just the latest support from Westmeath County Council to help this estate improve. There is a fabulous new group who have held a number of very successful tidy-ups and different events for the children at Halloween and Christmas, and I know that the group has many more plans going forward.

"This latest addition will allow the residents to continue to improve Brawny, and I know that myself and Westmeath County Council will be there to support Brawny in any way we can," he concluded.
