Burst pipe results in Athlone water supply disruption

Uisce Éireann has said a burst water main is disrupting water supply to an area of Athlone today (Thursday).

The utility said the issue "may cause supply disruptions to Carrickobrien, Golden Island, and surrounding areas".

Repair works on the burst pipe are scheduled to take place until 5pm today.

Uisce Éireann said it was recommended that people allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time for their supply to fully return.

Yesterday, a burst water main at the nearby St Patrick's Terrace in Athlone caused water outages for a time, with repair works being completed early yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile work being carried out in the Mount Temple area have been causing "low pressure and supply disruption to Carnafin, Mount Temple and surrounding areas" locally,

Uisce Éireann said the work in Mount Temple currently had a scheduled completion time of 5pm today.
