Moate CS to face Marist in local derby showdown

The draw for the Leinster Schools SF ‘A’ quarter-finals has thrown up a fascinating local derby showdown between Marist College and Moate Community School.

The Marist will have home advantage in a fixture which is sure to attract considerable interest in Athlone, Moate and surrounding areas.

The Marist v Moate CS match is scheduled to take place next Thursday, December 19 at Páirc Chiaráin. The Marist also play some of their home games in Kiltoom (home ground of St Brigid's GAA) and Tubberclair, but Athlone GAA pitch has been selected as the venue on this occasion.

Marist College also had the minimum margin to spare when they edged out St Patrick's CS, Navan by 3-9 to 1-14 on Tuesday last - see report here

There are three Westmeath schools in the last eight with a highly rated Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar side drawn at home to Coláiste Eoin of Dublin in their quarter-final.

Br Bosco Cup holders Naas CBS will meet Ardscoil na Tríonóide, Athy in an all-Kildare clash (listed for next Monday), while the other quarter-final will see Coláiste Choilm, Tullamore take on Maynooth Education Campus (winners of the the 'group teams' section).

Three of the quarter-finals are due to be played next week, but the Coláiste Choilm game will be played in January (see details below).
