Bank holiday weekend music festival at JJ Killeens

It's another big weekend at JJ Killeens in Shannonbridge, with Live in the Marquee back over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The three-day festival promises to be another sensational Bank Holiday weekend of music.

Headlining on Friday are the popular Ruaile Buaile, a five-piece twisted-trad band, based in the midlands. The group formed in 2011.

In 2021, world renowned musician Cathal Guinan (Fiddle) joined the band, followed by Seán Bourke (banjo) in 2023.

Along with original members Niall Kelly (Vocals and Guitar), Jack Godley (Percussion) and Shane Lynam (Vocals and Bass), the quintet are entertaining audiences with a bigger than ever sound. From upbeat old Irish favourites, ground thumping trad, and unique twists on recent day classics, this collective are bringing their energy to masses around Ireland and further afield.

They are supported on Friday by Tradstone, a Trad/Folk/Celtic Band from Tipperary/Galway who have played all over the world and have a huge following.

On Saturday, the centrepiece is All Folk'd Up, a contemporary Irish Folk-Rock group, originally formed back in Dublin by banjo virtuoso and lead singer Pauric Mohan. He soon brought in younger brother Barry and other members to bolster the band’s line-up. From those early days in Dublin the band have evolved and captured fans from all over the world. Sell out shows ensued in Ireland and the UK, and the band impressed festival audiences in Europe, America, Germany

and Spain throughout their tenure, along with their own headline international tours and stand-out performances at the Cheltenham Races, the Farmers Bash in the SSE Arena, Belfast and an annual residency in Las Vegas. It was when the band were touring in Las Vegas in October 2022, that they received the tragic news of the death of guitarist Barry Mohan (28), who died in a road traffic accident back home. All Folk’d Up have garnered a reputation as one of the best new wave bands on the Irish folk circuit with a unique ability to rework old Irish folk and traditional songs, sprinkling their own modern and up-tempo twist.

Also on stage on Saturday will be The Tribesmen, a young traditional Irish music band from Galway, who have played all over Europe.

Bringing Live in the Marquee to a close on Sunday night, are Springsteen – A Tribute. These are Europe’s biggest and best Bruce Springsteen tribute act, based in in Northern Ireland.

This six-piece band is comprised of top Irish session musicians and fronted by veteran American singer and guitarist. With a reputation of authenticity and outstanding musicality, Springsteen – A Tribute is a breath-taking high-energy show and a must see spectacle for all fans of The Boss.
