Community groups recognised at Moate St Patrick's Day parade presentation
Community groups and organisations were recognised at the recent Moate St Patrick's Day Parade presentation night in the Grand Hotel.
The annual feast day parade is renowned for its vibrant and colourful floats and the occasion is always well supported by the many onlookers.
Participation of local entries was recognised when the parade awards were presented on Friday night.
Moate CCÉ claimed the 'Best Overall' float accolade while the 'Most Entertaining Float' award went to Rashina Vintage Club.
Moate Walk and Talk/Sanctuary Runners Group were announced as the 'Most Vibrant Float' award winners, while Peadar's Bar claimed the 'Best Dressed Shop Front' accolade.
The 'Best Dressed Dog' honour was awarded to Cia and Iris.
Those who led the parade, the Ghostbusters, comprising Holly Clifford, Holly Evans, Freya Cutting and Laura Tracey, Daniel Henson and Lily and Oscar Meade, also received awards on the presentation night.
The Moate St Patrick's Day committee expressed its thanks to all who supported this year's parade, in particular all the participants who ensure the occasion is an annual success.
"We wish to thank our main sponsor, the Grand Hotel, for hosting our presentation evening. Without their ongoing support the parade would not be possible. We would also like to thank Westmeath County Council for their grant support, in particular, Cllr Tom Farrell who secured an additional €1,000 towards the parade this year," the parade committee said.
The St Patrick's Day committee also expressed its gratitude to the local businesses and numerous volunteers who ensure the parade remains a feature on the town's social calendar each year.
