Luas suspended in parts of Dublin until November as bridge damaged in fire to be demolished

A bus service will run between Connolly and The Point while repairs are ongoing to the Georges Dock bridge, which was recently damaged in a fire.

Following an assessment, the bridge has been found to be structurally compromised.

The completion of works will be at the end of November this year, and Luas Red Line services will remain suspended between Connolly and The Point until that time.

A replacement bus service will operate from Monday, September 1st, covering the affected section of the line.

The service will run every 10 minutes and will operate during Luas operating hours.

The bus will depart from the following stops:

George’s Dock Luas Stop – beside Hilton Garden Inn

Mayor Square – NCI Luas Stop – beside The Convention Centre

Spencer Dock Luas Stop – beside The Mayson Hotel

The Point Luas Stop – beside The Point / 3Arena.

To facilitate the demolition of the bridge, changes to the overhead power cables will be required.

This will require a curtailment of Luas services on Tuesday September 2nd and Wednesday September 3rd from 7pm on both days.

After 7pm services will only run from Saggart and Tallaght to Smithfield. Morning services are unaffected. During these specific shutdowns Luas customers tickets are valid on Dublin Bus.

The bus services will run between 05:30 – 00:30 on Monday to Friday, between 06:30 – 00:30 on a Saturday, and 07:00 – 23:30 on 07:00 – 23:30 on Sundays.
