Report into Fianna Fáil's presidential campiagn delayed again

The report into Fianna Fail's botched presidential campaign has been delayed.

Jim Gavin's legal team has requested a copy of the review before it's published.

The Taoiseach informed his Fianna Fáil parliamentary party of the delay last night.

Micheál Martin has reassured his TDs and Senators that the report will be ready before Christmas.

Fianna Fáil decided to nominate Jim Gavin as their candidate ahead of Ireland South MEP Billy Kelleher.

Retired army pilot and former Dublin Gaelic football manager, Mr Gavin, announced his withdrawal, hours after he faced questions over claims he owed a former tenant €3,300.

Mr Gavin had the support of Taoiseach and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

Mr Gavin's nomination was described as a “very serious miscalculation” by Mr Kelleher
