Three people have been arrested after an early morning police pursuit in Co Down.

Officers said the incident happened after a red-coloured Audi failed to stop for officers shortly after midnight on Main Street in Ballynahinch.

It instead made off at speed in the direction of Dromara, according to police.

It was later brought to a stop by officers from the roads policing unit in the vicinity of Rathfriland Road, Dromara.

A police spokesperson said a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences including dangerous driving and taking a motor vehicle without authority.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including criminal damage. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries,” they said.

“A 25-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of suspected class B and C controlled drugs. She has since been bailed pending further enquiries.”
