Engineering works to disrupt Athlone-area rail services this Saturday
Irish Rail said planned engineering works between Athlone, Ballinasloe, and Roscommon this Saturday (March 7) will cause disruption to many of its services on the Dublin to Galway and Dublin to Westport lines.
The disruption to scheduled services will commence in the early afternoon and will see bus transfers being called into use on some services heading westwards from Athlone.
In addition, one of the day's scheduled train services between Dublin and Galway has been cancelled altogether.
The details of the impacted services this Saturday were outlined by Irish Rail as follows:
Dublin to Galway line
13:30 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 15:23 from Ballinasloe to Galway, which will not serve Woodlawn.
15:35 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 17:40 from Ballinasloe to Galway which will not serve Woodlawn.
16:30 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 18:25 from Ballinasloe to Galway.
17:10 Heuston to Athlone will operate in an altered path.
17:31 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 19:43 from Ballinasloe to Galway.
18:30 Heuston to Galway is cancelled.
19:35 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 21:45 from Ballinasloe to Galway.
20:30 Heuston to Galway and will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 22:35 from Ballinasloe to Galway.
13:05 Galway to Heuston will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone, second train departing at 14:32 from Athlone to Heuston.
15:05 Galway to Heuston will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone, second train departing at 16:30 from Athlone to Heuston which will not serve Clara.
17:20 Galway to Heuston will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone, second train departing at 18:52 from Athlone to Heuston.
18:18 Galway to Athlone will not serve Woodlawn and will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone.
19:25 Galway to Heuston will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone, second train departing at 21:03 from Athlone to Heuston.
20:50 Galway to Heuston will operate to Ballinasloe only, bus transfers from Ballinasloe to Athlone, second train departing at 22:22 from Athlone to Heuston.
Dublin to Westport line
