First look of Michael Fassbender as Joe Kennedy Sr in Netflix 'Kennedys' show

Netflix has released a first image of Irish actor Michael Fassbender as Joe Kennedy Sr in its upcoming series about the Kennedy family.

'Kennedy; is based on the book 'JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956' by Fredrik Logevall.

The show's official description says it “reveals the intimate lives, loves, rivalries and tragedies that shaped the most iconic dynasty in modern history, and helped create the world we live in today. Beginning in the 1930s, the first season charts the improbable ascent of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, including rebellious second son Jack, who struggles to escape the shadow of his golden boy older brother".

The Kennedy dynasty, particularly the late US president John F Kennedy and his wife Jackie, is a subject of public intrigue.

This has been shown once again in the series 'Love Story', which documents the life of John F Kennedy Jr and his wife Carolyn Bessette.

The eight-episode first season of Kennedy is currently in production. It has been described as a similar drama to The Crown, which followed the British royal family.
