Woman charged with assaulting man in Athlone housing estate
A 40-year-old woman is due to appear in court next month after being charged with assaulting a male, causing him harm, in an Athlone housing estate last weekend.
Gardai were called to a property in Battery Heights shortly before 12:30am on Saturday last, April 11.
It's alleged that the woman had assaulted a male, believed to be approximately 10 years older than her, causing him harm.
The woman was subsequently arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
She has since been interviewed, charged, and released, and is due to appear before a sitting of Athlone District Court on May 6.
Gardai said the investigation into the alleged assault was ongoing.
Separately, a 20-year-old man has been charged with the possession of suspected cocaine, for the purpose of sale or supply, in Athlone last Saturday evening.
The man was stopped by Gardai and searched in the Pearse Court area, on the west side of the town, and was found in possession of suspected cocaine.
He was arrested, interviewed, and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of the drug for sale or supply.
He is now also due to appear before Athlone District Court on May 6.
