Athlone Town announce 'Player of the Month' winners
Athlone Town have announced the recent winners of the club's 'Player of the Month' awards.
The club confirmed the return of the awards following a ten year absence with accolades been presented to players from both of the club's senior teams.
Central midfielder Brian McManus won the 'Player of the Month' accolade for February, while his fellow midfielder Aaron Connolly claimed the award for March.
Meanwhile, returning striker Dana Scheriff was awarded the women's 'Player of the Month' accolade for March.
The award winners are voted for by the club's supporters.
The ace striker has netted six goals in four games this season including the opening goal in Athlone's 2-0 Premier Division win over Peamount United on Sunday evening.
The reigning champions moved into second place on the league table following their victory.
Athlone return to league action in Lissywollen on Saturday evening when they host Wexford FC at 6pm.
Meanwhile, the senior men's team sit in fifth position on the League of Ireland First Division table following a 2-1 win over Bray Wanderers in Lissywollen on Friday night.
Goals from James Crawford and Cillian Tollett proved the difference as Ian Ryan's charges claimed their fifth league win of the season.
