Westmeath minor team named for Offaly clash
Westmeath minor football manager Mick Dillon has named his team for this evening's Leinster championship fixture against Offaly in Kinnegad at 7.30pm.
Westmeath have had impressive showings against Longford and Dublin in their Group 2 games to date and a win this evening will secure a place in the provincial semi-final for the Lake County.
Management and supporters will be hoping that the 'feel good' factir surrounding Westmeath in recent days continues when the players take to the field for their final round robin fixture in this year's championship.
Moate All Whites have two representatives listed to start with Billy Stenson named at centrefield and his club colleague Darragh Murray operating at centre forward.
Tubberclair's Gary Staunton has been named to start at wing back, while Cill Óige club player Alex Mullen Adamson will start in the full forward line.
Two of the heroes from Coláiste Mhuire's Hogan Cup winning team - Conor Cleary and Stephen McWade - are also included in Westmeath's starting XV.
Meanwhile, the Westmeath U20 footballers return to action on Thursday evening (April 23) to play Kildare in their rearranged Leinster championship quarter-final fixture.
The game will take place in TEG Cusack Park Mullingar with a 6.15pm throw-in.
The original fixture was abandoned at half-time due to heavy rainfall with Kildare leading Westmeath by 0-6 to 0-3.
