Gertie Browne's among the winners at YesChef Ireland Awards
Gertie Browne's Bar & Bistro, located at Custume Place in Athlone, has been presented with a coveted award at the 2026 YesChef Ireland Awards.
The popular Athlone premises received the Best Casual Dining Restaurant in Leinster Award at an event to celebrate culinary excellence at the Fairways Hotel, Dundalk on Wednesday night (April 22). The award is further recognition for owners Alan Conroy and Peter Scully, who have claimed numerous prizes in the industry in recent years. They are also the successful owners of The Cellar Bistro at Strand Street, Athlone; The Cellar Bistro, Moate (located at The Gap House); and the popular Peadar's Bar in Moate.
There was further local success at the event as Badi Zaidi (Zaidi Fusion Catering) claimed a 'Highly Commended Award' in the Best Front of House Manager category for his contribution to The Balcony Café at Ganly's.
Speaking after the event, Shane Smith, NI Media, praised the calibre of entries and the passion evident throughout the industry.
“The YesChef Awards exist to honour the people who pour their hearts into Irish food culture,” said Shane.
“Tonight’s winners represent the very best of what our industry stands for - excellence, resilience and a commitment to unforgettable hospitality,” he added.
