Local schools prepare for Bike Week 2026
Two local schools are preparing to host events for Bike Week 2026, which runs from Saturday, May 9, to Sunday, May 17.
The Marist College will host their Second Year Spin Off event as part of Bike Week
The aim of this event is to end the academic year with a fun and memorable afternoon on the Greenway.
Students will bring their bikes to school for the day and cycle 15km to Moate for a short picnic and then return home.
The school will access the Greenway from the back gate of the school grounds and will provide a few bikes to any students who do not have any.
St. Oliver Plunkett BNS will host their Cycle to Succeed event on May 14 from 10am to 1pm.
The school will start at the railway track on the greenway in Moate. The classes will cycle to Garrycastle in different pace groups, supported by class teachers.
The purpose of Bike Week to encourage new, occasional, and seasoned cyclists to make cycling part of their lifestyle.
