Athlone Town CEO provides women's head coach update

Athlone Town CEO Steven Gray has confirmed that the club are still "working through a recruitment process" to appoint a new head coach for the women's first team.

In an update provided to the Athlone Town supporters, the CEO stated that the club had held "informal conversations" with multiple people "who we feel may be qualified for this opportunity".

Gray commended the work of the interim management team, adding that the players were enjoying "playing under the current management team".

"Multiple players have spoken openly to me how much they are enjoying playing under the current management team.

"At this club, the input of the players is of the utmost importance. We value their opinion and I have heard only positive opinions of late," the CEO said.

Stressing that "the search continues", the CEO said that the club is looking for a person who is "qualified, experienced, passionate, possesses strong leadership skills, can connect with the group and command their respect as soon as they enter the room".

"This person is so important to the football club as we wish to give this group of players the best possible person available to lead them," Gray concluded.
