Athlone Boat Club member selected for international competition

Athlone Boat Club member Darragh Collins has been selected by Rowing Ireland to compete at the European Rowing U19 Championships in Brandenburg Germany from May 23-24.

Collins will form one quarter of the Junior Men’s Four team who will compete against the best U19 crews from across Europe as he continues his rowing development on the international stage.

Rowing Ireland said the Championships mark the first major international regatta of the 2026 high performance season and provide an important opportunity for Ireland’s emerging athletes to gain valuable international racing experience.

In August of last year, Collins and his rowing partner Dominick Cunningham represented Ireland at the Coupe de la Jeunesse held in Linz, Austria and gave an excellent performance to reach the ‘A’ final, finishing sixth overall.

Acknowledging Collins' international selection Athlone Boat Club said that his selection was "well deserved".
