Approval for new padel courts in Clonmore area
Connacht rugby player Jack Carty and business partner Fergal Hynes have been granted planning permission by Westmeath County Council to turn an industrial unit in Mullingar into a leisure facility.
Mr Carty and Mr Hynes lodged the application with Westmeath County Council to construct padel courts at an industrial unit at Zone C, Mullingar Business Park, Clonmore, Mullingar, Westmeath.
The application was for a change of use from the existing light industrial designation to recreational or leisure facility. The application covered building signage on the front of the unit and amendments to the existing car parking to provide bicycle parking. The usual request for all associated ancillary site works was included in the application.
Westmeath County Council planners decided to grant permission for the development in accordance with the submitted plans subject to three conditions. The conditions are that no advertisement sign or structure is erected, adherence to the submitted plans and the payment of €30,236.30 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities.
