Almost 20 patients waiting for beds in local hospitals

Almost 20 patients are waiting for beds in local hopsitals today (Tuesday).

The figures, released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation this morning, show 16 patients are on trolleys in Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, including nine in the emergency department, and seven in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

In Portiuncula Hospital, three patients are on trolleys in the emergency department.

Nationally, 612 admitted patients are waiting for beds. Of these, 406 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 206 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
