Athlone pupils to feature in RTÉ People’s Angelus this Friday

Local pupils from St Mary’s NS and Athlone Mixed National School are set to feature in RTÉ People’s Angelus this Friday.

A short film titled 'Transitions', produced by Knights of St Columbanus in Athlone, will appear on RTE People’s Angelus on this Friday, May 22, at 6pm.

St Mary's Primary School captures First Communion students in procession in communion dress from their school at Grace Park carrying their communion work books and flowers to St Mary’s Church where they were met by the applause of their parents and friends.

Athlone Mixed School at Arcadia, features sixth class students as they graduate from their school, and applauded by fellow students and teachers as they leave the school and jubilantly throw their hats in the air to celebrate the end of primary education.

As well as the items mentioned above, The film captures some magic moments in Athlone town.

Ray O Reilly and Declan Grogan are seen moving to the finishing line as they cycle over the River Shannon on the new impressive greenway bridge in Athlone with St Peter's and Paul's Church in the background.

The film, produced by Niall Cole in Athlone, also captures some wild life scenes, including a mummy duck with her ducklings as they take their first swim on the river Shannon.
