Castledaly referee to take charge of Leinster minor football final
Castledaly native Enda Kelly will referee the Leinster minor football championship final between Kildare and Meath in O'Moore Park Portlaoise on Friday evening.
The province's showpiece fixture marks the most important game which the Moyvoughley resident has overseen to date having started his refereeing journey in 2018.
Kelly has taken charge of all three men's championship finals in Westmeath, starting with the junior showpiece fixture in 2021 between Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall and Bunbrosna.
In 2022 he was the 'man in the middle' for the intermediate football championship final between Tubberclair and Shandonagh, while 2024 saw Kelly oversee the senior final between St Loman's and The Downs.
The former Castledaly senior footballer, who won a senior championship medal with his club in 2008, also took charge of the Leinster junior club football final in 2024 between Offaly's Ballinagar and Dunsany, County Meath.
Such is Kelly's standing as a referee, he was added to the national support panel this year and was named as fourth official for the Allianz National Football League Division 2 encounter between Meath and Louth in Croke Park in February.
The Leinster minor football championship final will be broadcast live on TG4 from 7.25pm with throw-in at 7.35pm.
