Two juveniles arrested after overnight burglary at Athlone business premises

A burglary at a business premises in the Golden Island area of Athlone during the early hours of this morning (Monday) has prompted the arrest of two youths under the age of 18.

The burglary took place at the Homesavers store, in the Diskin Centre, at approximately 4am.

It's understood that the intruders forced their entry to the store and then stole an array of vaping products, which were subsequently recovered.

The two juveniles who were arrested were interviewed at Athlone Garda Station earlier today.

A Garda spokesperson said they have since been released without charge, while a file is being prepared for the Garda National Youth Diversion Bureau.

The spokesperson added that investigations into the burglary were ongoing.
