WATCH: Song celebrating Westmeath footballers' Leinster success proves a hit

A song celebrating the Westmeath team's glorious success in this year’s Leinster championship has been viewed online nearly 50,000 times.

The song The Westmeath Follower is the work of 'The Caulry Lads' - it was written by Tom Daly and performed by Michael Doyle from the band Streetwise. Both are members of Caulry GAA Club.

Adapting the melody of Joe Dolan's Westmeath Bachelor, the song outlines the misery endured by Westmeath followers during the lean years and charts the team's results as Mark McHugh's players defeated all before them on their way to lifting the Leinster cup for only the second time ever.

Here's hoping that Tom will have to write another verse or two before the season is finished!
