Athlone Musical Society announces 2027 production

Athlone Musical Society has announced 'The Wedding Singer' as its 2027 stage production.

Based on the 1998 film of the same name, the performance will take place at the end of February next year.

The musical revolves around Robbie, who sings at weddings, his failed relationship with his former fiancée, and his romance with a new love, Julia.

The musical will be directed by Dominic Reid with Ger Madden returning to his role as Musical Director. Dylan O'Keeffe will make his debut with the Society as choreographer.

Meanwhile, Athlone Musical Society will be hoping to add to its roll of honour at the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) awards in the Gleneagle Arena, Killarney.

Jay Origan is in contention for an award in the 'Best Comedienne' category of the Gilbert section for her role as Felicia Gabriel in the Society's performance of 'The Witches of Eastwick'.
