Celebration of long-serving Tubberclair priest postponed
Tubberclair parish has announced that a planned celebration next month, marking the retirement of long-serving parish priest Fr Seamus Mulvany, has been postponed.
The event had been due to take place on Sunday, July 5.
"Fr Mulvany's celebration of service is postponed until August. We will keep everyone updated as more information becomes available. Fr Mulvany will remain with us in Tubberclair for the moment," said Tullamore parish in a social media post.
Fr Mulvany's retirement comes after a remarkable 61 years in the priesthood, the last 33 of which have been spent in Tubberclair.
The Diocese of Meath last weekend confirmed his upcoming retirement, announcing that Fr Barry Condron, parish priest of Castletown-Geoghegan and Tyrrellspass, would be the new parish priest in Tubberclair.
Fr Robert McCabe a Navan-based curate, is to replace Fr Condron as parish priest of Castletown-Geoghegan and Tyrrellspass.
The Diocese said the changes would take effect from July 10 next.
Bishop Tom Deenihan expressed his gratitude to Fr Mulvaney and to Paddy Kearney, parish priest of Kilskyre, on their retirements.
He thanked both men for "their long and faithful service" to the Diocese.
