Whittaker named on GAA.ie 'Team of the Week'

Westmeath senior footballer Matthew Whittaker has been named on the GAA.ie 'Team of the Week'.

Despite the Lake County's exhilarating championship campaign coming to its conclusion in Clones on Sunday, the Tubberclair player has been recognised for his individual performance against Monaghan.

Whittaker continued his impressive 2026 championship form, scoring 1-2 from play, enhancing his performance with a number of trademark runs from his customary wing back position.

Whittaker amassed 2-11 from play during Westmeath's Leinster senior football championship and All-Ireland series odyssey, which will be fondly remembered by all county supporters for years to come.
