Four Roads overcome Pearses to win league crown
Four Roads defeated Pádraig Pearses in the Western Insulation Roscommon Senior Hurling League final last Sunday evening.
The final was hosted by St Aidan's GAA in Ballyforan, with Four Roads emerging winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-15.
Afterwards, Tommy Morris was presented with the trophy by Roscommon GAA Hurling Board chairman Christy McDermott. Morris also received the player of the match award from competition sponsor Paul Kelly.
With Ronan Finn finding the net, Pearses led 1-10 to 0-7 at half-time, but the Tisrara men responded in the second half and eventually claimed victory by two points.
Having won the last four Roscommon senior hurling titles and a total of 38, Four Roads appear to be the team to beat once again, with the battle for the Mickey Cunniffe Cup starting on the weekend after next.
With 38 Roscommon SHC crowns to their credit, Four Roads lead the roll of honour by a considerable margin ahead of Roscommon Gaels (24) and Athleague (20).
