Met Éireann extends high temperature weather warning

A fresh yellow high temperature weather warning has been issued for the country by Met Éireann this morning (Thursday).

A weather warning issued by the national weather forecaster on Monday was due to expire on Friday morning at 9am but this has now been extended until Saturday at 9am.

Met Éireann said that maximum temperatures in excess of 27°C are expected in many counties combined with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected.

Met Éireann advised the public to be aware of potential impacts from the current spell of warm weather, pointing out that there's a risk of water safety issues arising due to increased use of lakes and beaches.

Forest fires are also a possibility, and people are asked to mindful of the potential for uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress in certain situations.
