Troy encourages community centre groups to apply before deadline

Local Minister of State Robert Troy has called on community centre committees across the county to submit application to the Community Centre Investment Fund prior to the upcoming deadline.

The fund, which is allocated by the Department of Communities, and administered by Pobal opened recently and has a closing date of July 13.

“I am conscious that there is a huge amount of work being done by volunteers across the county in running and operating community facilities. In many of our smaller communities these centres are the lifeblood of the area and a real social hub for people of all ages. The Community Centre investment fund is a key opportunity to grow these facilities, and enhance the range of activities catered for whilst also looking at energy efficiency elements which will have huge long – term benefits”.

The current round of community centre investment funding is the third such round since the funds inception in 2022. To date, the initiative has invested over €111 million into almost 1,650 refurbishment and construction projects, cementing community centres as vital social hubs across Ireland.

Minister Troy continued: “I recently spoke directly with Minister Dara Calleary about the fund, I was delighted that Minister Calleary confirmed an increased budget for the 2026 scheme which will help to ensure that more successful projects make it across the line. Committees who would like to submit an application should log onto myportal.pobal.ie or contact my office and we will be happy to provide guidance and assistance on the process."
