Warriors to announce women's coach as new players invited to open meeting
Midland Warriors Rugby Football Club is expected to announce its new senior women's team head coach at an open meeting to be held on Wednesday evening at the Grand Hotel, Moate.
The pre-season meeting is also being held in a bid to recruit even more new players to its talented ranks, the club said in a social media post.
Recently, the club announced that Brian Moore had stepped back from his position as head coach after a very successful couple of seasons at the helm.
The Athlone native took on a newly-formed team, consistently mostly of players without previous rugby experience, and steered them to provincial success in his debut campaign. The club thanked Moore for his contribution to the club and said that his belief in the team has inspired the club.
Potential new players are welcome to attend the open meeting on Wednesday (7.15pm) to meet with current players and coaches. There will be no obligation to join the ranks, the club said.
'If you are thinking of joining or would like some more information, this is the perfect place to come along, ask questions or get involved. We are also looking forward to announcing our coaching team and setting out the season plan', the club said on social media.
Midland Warriors RFC was formed in 2005 to represent the districts of Moate, Castledaly, Ballymore, Rosemount, Mount Temple/Baylin, Tubber and other nearby areas.
