Date confirmed for Athlone Town's cup meeting with Shamrock Rovers

Athlone Town will host Shamrock Rovers in the Club Orange Women’s FAI Cup quarter-final in Lissywollen on Saturday, August 1, at 3.30pm.

The cup holders were handed a home draw following their second round win over Peamount United. That cup encounter saw new signing Sofia Stovold open the scoring for Athlone Town, with high-scoring striker Dana Scheriff adding a second goal to ensure victory and a place in the last eight of the competition.

Athlone, who returned to the top of the Premier Division table following the team's 3-0 win in Cork, defeated their quarter-final opponents 3-1 in a recent home league meeting with goals from Madison Gibson, Dana Scheriff and Hazel Donegan.

The remaining quarter-final ties see Bohemians host Shelbourne in Dalymount Park on Saturday, August 1, at 3pm, while on the same date, Galway United will play Sligo Rovers in Moyne Villa at 5pm.

There is one cup tie down for decision on Sunday, August 2, when intermediate club Douglas Hall host Cork City at the Douglas Hall Grounds, at 2pm.

This year's final is set to take place on Sunday, September 27, at Tallaght Stadium.
