Roscommon fall short in Premier Junior camogie semi-final

Roscommon were edged out by Armagh in a high scoring All-Ireland Premier Junior camogie semi-final at Kingspan Breffni Park Cavan on Saturday.

Despite scoring 2-19 over the game's duration, Roscommon failed to overcome the challenge posed by the Orchard County as their championship campaign came to an end at the Ulster venue.

Roscommon played their best hurling in the first half, inspired by a wonderful performance from Orla Connolly, who finished with 1-9 on the day.

Trailing by two points at half-time, the signs looked promising for Roscommon who had wind advantage in the second period, but an unanswered 2-3 scoring spree from Armagh effectively put paid to the Connacht county's final aspirations.

Roscommon rallied late and reduced the gap to three points briefly on the back of Connolly’s goal and a Rachel Dooley point, but Armagh were able to manage the game's closing stages to advance to a final meeting with Cavan.
