Woman killed and child seriously injured in crash
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock, yesterday evening, Friday, July 24.
The collision involved a car and a truck and occurred just after 5pm.
The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has been removed the scene.
A passenger in the car, a female juvenile child, was removed from the scene to Temple Street Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
A number of other people occupant of these vehicles received medical treatment at the scene by ambulance staff. No other injuries have been reported.
Road closed
The road is closed for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Any road users who were travelling in this area between 4:45pm and 5:15pm yesterday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
