Road closure on N55 starts today

Motorists travelling on the N55 between Athlone and Ballymahon face road closures and diversions from today.

Westmeath County Council & Longford County Council are advising road users of a temporary intermittent closure of the N55 between Ballykeeran (Co. Westmeath) and Ballymahon (Co. Longford) to facilitate pavement improvement works.

The project involves work from Creggy to Rathmore and will last for a month, from today, August 4 to September 4, 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.

The road will remain open outside these hours Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained

Northbound traffic towards Glasson/Ballymahon will be diverted via the R390, R389 and R392.

Southbound traffic from Ballymahon will follow the same route in reverse.
