Trio to perform Percy French songs at event in Ballinasloe church

A gala concert celebrating the songs of Roscommon-born writer Percy French will take place in Ballinasloe on Saturday, August 15.

The event, entitled 'Sweep Down to the Sea – The Songs of Percy French' will feature performances by three renowned artists; Eleanor Shanley, Ultan Conlon, and Jimmy Higgins.

It was launched at Ballinasloe Library on Thursday last, where attendees were invited to "step back in time and experience the charm of 1920s Ireland through the music and world of Percy French".

The library was transformed into a 1920s Irish parlour, as guests enjoyed complimentary tea, traditional barm brack and buns while soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying a musical preview of the forthcoming concert. The concert will take place in St John's Church, Ballinasloe.
