Moate pub to reopen beer garden with weekend of music

Moate pub The Auld Shebeen is set to reopen its beer garden with a weekend of music and fun.

The reopening will take place across the coming weekend, Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, as the Moate Agricultural Show draws crowds to the area.

Saturday will see performances from Jiggers Éire, Adrian Rabbitte, New Light Duo, as well as an 80s and 90s disco.

The fun will continue on Sunday, with live music from Kitchen Sink, Eric Stacey, Rambling Bucks, Lauren McLoughlin, and The Wrafter Family Band.

The Auld Shebeen serves food from 12 noon to 8pm each day. Over the two festival days, there will be drinks promotions, including €5 pints in the beer garden.

The iconic Midlands pub opened under new ownership in March of this year. The reopening marked a new chapter in the life of a business which has long been a mainstay in Moate.

The pub was purchased by Dublin businessman Fran Massey in September 2023, with his brother Ray handling the day-to-day operations of the business.
