Leaving Cert results represent 'six years of perseverance, work and development'

At Athlone Community College, 159 students received their Leaving Certificate results while 11 students sat the Leaving Certificate Applied programme.

Principal Lisa O'Kennedy was upbeat about the results achieved at the school.

"There was a strong performance across a broad range of subjects, with particularly strong outcomes at higher level," she said.

The school was delighted to have one student, Nicola Brennan, achieve the maximum score of 625 points.

A further seven students at Athlone Community College achieved over 600 points: Aoife Minnock, Naoise Kiveney, Vidhur Dandu, Aby Arthur, Amna Khan, Aoife Walsh and Ciara Walsh.

"In our Leaving Cert Applied class over half our students achieved a Distinction or Merit in their programme with Distinctions going to James Earley, Kayden Stacey, and Sean Mozejko," said Ms O'Kennedy.

"These are exceptional individual achievements and reflect an enormous amount of commitment and hard work from the students involved. We are very proud of them.

"As always our core subjects are far beyond the national averages, and our emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) subjects is reflected in the high grades achieved."

She pointed out that Leaving Cert results represented "six years of work, perseverance and development," adding that success "looks different for every student".

"For some students it is achieving 625 points; for others it is exceeding their own expectations or securing the course, apprenticeship or pathway they had worked towards," said Ms O'Kennedy.

"I would also like to acknowledge the enormous contribution of our teachers and staff, and the support provided by parents and guardians throughout our students' time in Athlone Community College. We wish every member of the class of 2026 every success as they take their next steps."
