Athlone Town loan player signs for Serie A club

Athlone Town loan player Cillian Tollett has joined Serie A club Bologna.

The striker's permanent transfer was confirmed by his parent club Galway United on Monday afternoon.

Tollett has been on loan with Athlone Town since the start of the 2026 League of Ireland First Division season scoring six goals during this time.

The Republic of Ireland underage international made his final appearance for the club as a used substitute during the team's recent 2-1 derby win over Longford Town.

Having made his senior debut for Galway United in October 2024, Tollett will now look to further his professional career at the Italian club.
