Wedding bells as Midlands MEP's daughter ties the knot with Limerick hurler

The first glimpse of the magical wedding of Offaly's Gemma Cowen and Limerick hurler William O'Donoghue has been shared online.

Gemma is the daughter of MEP Barry Cowen and his wife, Mary, and the niece of former Taoiseach Brian Cowen. In her own right, she is an artist who creates "dream-like fine art, inspired by Éire".

The couple exchanged vows at St John's Cathedral in Cashel on Friday, September 18, before leaving the ceremony in a classic MGA car.

The celebrations then continued in the beautiful surroundings of Cashel Palace Hotel.

The first photos from the couple's glamorous nuptials, taken by photographer Christina Brosnan, were shared in a joint post on Gemma's Instagram page on Sunday.

William and Gemma got engaged in November 2024, when the Limerick hurler got down on one knee as the couple were putting up their Christmas tree.

Since then, the couple have shared every step of their wedding journey with followers on social media, including snaps from their hen and stag celebrations, as well as photos from the night before the big day.
