TUS Athlone expands academic links with Brazil

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has welcomed representatives from three Brazilian universities as part of efforts to strengthen research and academic links between Ireland and Brazil.

Representatives from UFCSPA, Universidade do Vale do Itajaí and Cefet-RJ (UTFPRJ) visited the TUS campus in Athlone, where they met with researchers and academics and visited research centres and laboratories.

The visit included discussions on shared research interests, potential joint projects and opportunities for further collaboration.

Brazilian researchers already working at TUS, including Franklin Silva, Henrique Pereira, PhD, and Tielidy de Lima, also took part in the programme.

The university's engagement with Brazil extended to student recruitment, with TUS hosting representatives from Brazilian schools as part of an Education in Ireland mission led by Simone Ricci.

During the visit, TUS highlighted that it now accepts Brazil's ENEM examination as an entry requirement for undergraduate courses, marking a step towards simplifying the admissions process for Brazilian students seeking to study at the university.
