St Peter's FC team reunites to celebrate club's first senior silverware success

An occasion of sporting reflection awaits in The Castle Inn on Friday night as members of the St Peter's FC team who won the club's first senior trophy unite 25 years after that historic success.

Founded in 1980, the Athlone club defeated a Salthill Devon team who numbered former League of Ireland players Johnny Morris Burke and Ricky O'Flaherty among their ranks, in the Connacht Senior League Millennium Cup final, goals from Mark Sherlock, Liam McNamara and Martin McConnell securing a 3-0 victory before a well attended St Mel's Park.

St Peter's competed in the Connacht Senior League from 1993-2000 when the league was disbanded, the Millennium Cup success due reward for the years of service given to the club during these seasons by this particular squad of players.
