Martin's mouth-painted work showcased at local exhibition
Martin Conway from Athlone showcased an exhibition of his mouth-painted art work in Athlone Library recently.
The exhibition is one of the challenges undertaken by Martin as part of the Gaisce Award or President's Award programme.
The Gaisce Award is a personal development programme for young people encouraging them to dream big and fulfill their potential.
Martin is completing his Bronze award and chose painting for one of his activities. He painted the art pieces by mouth.
He got his inspiration for his paintings on animals after a trip to Dublin zoo.
He said he found the first piece difficult but then as he progressed it became easier.
His favourite piece is the flamingo, he like experimenting with different colours and hopes the art is something that he can continuing doing.
He finds it relaxing. Martin volunteers with Athlone Community Radio reporting on sport which is a great passion of his.
Martin was supported and prepared for his art exhibition by volunteer Gaisce leader Laura Bowen.
The exhibition was attended by Martin's family, friends, locals and staff at NLN training centre.
