Athlone Athletics Club races take place on Sunday

Athlone Athletics Club will its annual half marathon and 10km races on Sunday morning at 10am.

The popularity of the both races continue to resonate with runners with the two distances selling out to participants within weeks of online entry opening to the public.

Over 600 participants will start and finish their respective races on the TUS Athlone campus running track, the route offering an ample opportunity to achieve personal best times as it is mainly flat in duration along the Athlone-Mullingar Greenway.

The half marathon is perfectly timed for runners preparing for the Dublin City Marathon and other autumn races.

This will be the third staging of the club's half marathon and 10km which are dedicated to the late Brian Garvey.
