Dillon nominated for Player of the Year award
Westmeath ladies footballer Sarah Dillon has been nominated for the 2025 TG4 Players’ Player of the Year in the intermediate grade.
The ace forward has been rewarded for her displays during the 2025 championship, which saw Westmeath lose out in unlucky fashion to eventual champions Tyrone at the semi-final stage.
The Milltown club player was one of two Westmeath players, team captain Fiona Coyle being the other, who were named on the TG4 LGFA All-Ireland Intermediate Team of the Championship last month.
A former student of TUS Midlands in Athlone, Dillon has battled back from serious injury problems to become one of the leading forwards in the game, helping Westmeath to win the Leinster title with victory over Laois in May.
Dillon's fellow nominees are a duo of Tyrone footballers, Aoife Horisk and Sorcha Gormley, who helped the Ulster county win the All-Ireland intermediate title, the Red Hand team defeating Westmeath on the way to claiming the national prize.
Dillon previously won the TG4 Intermediate Players’ Player of the Year Award in 2021 and will be hoping to replicate this feat when the award winners are announced at a banquet at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 15.
