Westmeath Gardaí stop driver travelling at 187kph

A motorway speed checkpoint operated by Westmeath Gardaí detected a driver travelling at 187km/hr over the weekend.

In a Facebook post from yesterday, Sunday October 5, they said: “This week, members of the Roads Policing Unit were carrying out motorway speed checkpoints. They detected a member of the public driving at 187km/hr on the M6.”

The post goes on to say that the driver was arrested for dangerous driving and was later charged and released on bail, and will appear before a District Court in the near future.

“Please remember that excessive speeding is not only very dangerous to other road users, but it can result in your arrest and charge, so please drive safely,” the Westmeath Gardaí Facebook post concluded.
