Catherine Connolly to visit Athlone as Mullingar stop cancelled
Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly will be paying a visit to Athlone later today (Wednesday), two days before the election. However, her planned visit to Mullingar later in the evening has been cancelled due to scheduling issues.
The Independent politician will make stops in Cavan, Monaghan, and Longford Town, before arriving in Athlone later this evening, where she will canvass at the Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus.
It is expected that she will arrive in Longford at approximately 5.15pm, while it is hoped she will reach Athlone by 7pm. Travel delays may be a factor, though.
Voters will go to the polls this Friday to elect either Ms Connolly or Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys as the next president of Ireland.
