Athlone Triathlon Club in running for Club of the Year

Athlone Triathlon Club has again been nominated for the Club of the Year award at the Triathlon Ireland Awards.

Having been named as the Triathlon Ireland Club of the Year last year, Athlone has been shortlisted as a finalist in the same category along with the Naas, Down and Triangle (based in Co. Derry) clubs.

Athlone Triathlon Club described winning last year's award as "an incredibly proud moment for our club and our members".

The 2025 Triathlon Ireland Awards will be held this Saturday, November 8 at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin (6pm).

The event will celebrate the 2025 season and recognise the achievements and contributions of athletes, clubs, volunteers and coaches. Tickets are available for purchase, with a special discounted rate for overall podium finishers in the National Championships or the Duathlon National Series.

Athlone Triathlon Club hosted this year's National Aquathlon Championships in August, as part of the town’s RiverFest celebrations, with the Triathlon Ireland website saying that Athlone "provided a stunning backdrop" for the championships.

Westmeath duo Elizabeth (Libby) Carr and Ross Killelea claimed the women’s and men’s titles in Athlone respectively, while a number of age group champions were also crowned for their performances in National Aquathlon Championships.
