Charter Medical investment to boost county's jobs economy
A €50 million investment by Charter Medical Group in Charter Medical Private Hospital, Ballinderry, Mullingar, will create 200 new jobs over the next two years, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke TD, has said.
This two-year capital plan is a transformative step in expanding healthcare capacity in the Midlands.
Commencing in January 2026, the significant Charter Medical investment plan for its Mullingar hospital comprises of new theatres, new endoscopy suites and additional surgical and medical beds.
This will further enhance the capital investment made to date. Furthermore, the investment will provide the opportunity for Charter Medical’s patients to access critical services more quickly.
This expansion at Charter Medical Private Hospital will facilitate an additional 100 roles in 2027, adding to the hospital’s current workforce of over 300 professionals.
Making the announcement, Minister Burke said: “I am delighted to announce this significant €50 million investment by Charter Medical Group in its Mullingar campus. This investment is a huge vote of confidence in Mullingar as a hub for advanced healthcare and will greatly improve patient access to surgical and diagnostic services. Around 200 jobs will be created, further positioning Mullingar as a centre for high-value employment in the healthcare sector.
“This project is a positive example of effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, delivering healthcare solutions that will help relieve pressure on public hospitals in the region, including those in Mullingar, Tullamore and Naas."
