Over 2,630 Westmeath farmers to benefit from €5.5 million in support payments
Over 2,630 Westmeath farmers are set to benefit from a sum of €5.5 million in new support payments.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, confirmed the commencement of balancing payments under the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS), Complementary Redistribution Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC), and the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF) schemes earlier this week.
A total of 2,634 farmers in Westmeath will receive direct support under these schemes, with €5,576,136 allocated to the county.
The payments will begin to appear in farmers' bank accounts in the coming days, providing critical financial support at an important time of year.
Minister Heydon highlighted the vital role these schemes play in supporting farm families across the country and ensuring the sustainability and viability of Irish farming.
These payments are essential to strengthening the rural economy and providing much-needed certainty to farmers as they prepare for the months ahead.
The funding is part of a larger national allocation, with €819 million paid under BISS and CRISS, and €241 million under the ANC scheme.
