Athlone native Irish professional rugby star Robbie Henshaw and his wife Sophie have officially welcomed first child.

Sophie broke the joyful news with a picture of Robbie carrying the baby home from the hospital, shared to Instagram on St Stephen's Day.

The couple welcomed their baby two years after tying the knot in a ceremony which took place in Cashel Palace Hotel.
